Is this audition song appropriate for the show?

I've got an audition for a high school production of 'Sweeney Todd' on Monday, and I'm in a flurry to choose my audition song. I was going through my songbooks tonight and I came across "He Plays the Violin" from '1776.' I wanted to ask the people that know this song if you think it'll do a good job of showing off my range and acting ability (concerns: it's only an octave range, or a ninth, I guess; it's a great song for Johanna, but I want to keep Lovett open for me). Any advice would be appreciated!
