My mom has to fly to ecuador on an emergency. Her pport is expired, what can she do? She is a resident only

Is she a legal permanent resident in the U.S.? If so, then she is responsible to keep a valid pport from her home country at all times. If she is from Ecuador, she must have an Ecuadoran pport to travel internationaly. Only American citizens may get an American pport. She will need to contact the emby of Ecuador in the U.S. to get a new pport. See site below.There is NO way she can get on an international flight withour her Ecuadoran passport. Emergencies like this are the reason that people who have family in other countries need to keep a current passport.
