What should i do? should i just not be friends with him?

well i went out with this guy for just under a month he broke up with me because he had to start working and he works 11 hours 6 days a week and he says he cant deal with not being able to see me alot and that he likes me and im great and all its just he wants to be able to spend all his time with me but he cant. and one of his friends told me this so its true and he's a good guy. so now he wants to be friends but im still kinda upset about the break up and i always get sad if he doesnt text everyday should i be friends with him im really mad about it i feel like i've been duped and i feel like i shouldnt have let him known i liked him....im just really confused...someone help please?? im 17 btw
