Why do non-wealthy social conservatives vote republican?

those social conservatives that vote republican baffle me!! they would undoubtedly benefit from democratic candidates. so they vote for 'values' such as abortion and gay marriage. fine, that is their own choice....but don't they realize that republicans are using them and when they get elected NOTHING changes socially? before the elections brought a change of power in the house, the senate, white house, and judicial branch were all run by conservatives. and nothing really changed. they are being used. abortion is never going to be outlawed. why do they continue to let themseleves be duped time and again. the socially conservative revolution began with Reagan, which was 25 years ago, and very little has been accomplished. when will these people wake up?
